About

Marcel Gidote's Holy Crab is a five-member psychedelic formation from Plzeň (Pilsen), Czech Republic, that has been fully operational since the beginning of 2019. The band balances between psychedelic rock and jazz with dynamic transitions between genres, creating a unique sound inspired by the Canterbury scene and blending jazz elements with psychedelic rock.

The band members cite diverse inspirations ranging from classic rock to progressive and psychedelic genres, including Led Zeppelin and Steely Dan. Their musical approach combines harmonically colorful ideas with a light mix of groove and honest classic rock, while exploring jazz fusion, psychedelic rock, and even video game music.

Since 2022, Marcel Gidote's Holy Crab has been actively touring across Europe, performing in Germany, France, Slovenia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Bosnia, and Serbia. The band reached the semi-finals of the Jazzfruit music competition and has performed at prestigious events including Jazzchange festival and Mladí ladí jazz. In 2024, they collaborated with illustrator and game developer Jozef Pavelka to create an original soundtrack for the computer game Felvidék.

With their latest double album "Sorcerers Laughing Out in the Heat" (2025), the band continues to evolve their sound while maintaining their commitment to adventurous, genre-defying music.
